NW Ottawa Citizenship Class Nancy Collins Leader for US Citizenship Training in the Tri Cities Help students complete a N-400 application for US Citizenship Ten week class April - June, 2018 After ten week class there is a legal clinic offered to have an immigration lawyer Takes 10 - 25 years to go through the full process Costs $685 to file plus $85 biometric fee. Class then helps prepare the prospective citizens for the interview. Ten questions are asked and the applicant must get six of them correct. If application is granted, new residents are scheduled for a naturalization ceremony. Many of these have been and will be held at Loutit District Library. Refugees who are here spent between 18 - 24 years in refugee camps in Nepal. Those currently involved int he program include farmers and doctors. Refugees have all levels of literacy in their native language, form very low functioning to highly educated. Students may be very confident in their own native language, but can be careful, cautious and uncomfortable when speaking English. Our immigrants work very hard to learn our ways and become citizens of the US! |
