STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION DEVELOPS NEW MISSION AND VISION
Thirteen members of the Plano East Rotary Club met on Saturday, 4/28/18 to tackle our strategic planning process. The session was facilitated by Rotary District 5810 volunteers George Ritcheske and Peter McClellan.

Photos of the session include all of the final flip charts as well as our members at work. SEE PHOTOS HERE

The draft mission statement created by the group for the Plano East Rotary Club is: “To engage with our community through service, fellowship and fun to address local and global needs.”

The vision statement says “The Plano East Rotary Club is a diverse, vibrant organization which assesses and responds to community needs.

Our club will spend the next two meetings refining the work of the committee and developing follow-on action items. Our meeting on May 10th will be presented by Ean Sullivan and will address “What is the Plano East Rotary Club doing now?” Ean will help us develop a list of all the current and planned rotary activities in which our members on involved.

Then, on May 24th, George Ritcheske will return and help us finalize our report as we discuss “what next?”

Thanks to George, Peter, and all who participated in Saturday's session. These are exciting times for PERC where we are fine tuning what we are and what we are going to be.

Guests and Speaker
Kenny Wilson introduced his guest, Katie Anderson, sister-in-law to our speaker. Katie works at Alpha Graphics with Kenny.
Lisa introduced speak our speaker, Beth Anderson, who gave a very interesting talk on the history of RYLA. First camp was held in 1991, with 41 boys. Next year it became co-ed.  RYLA focuses on the best of the best, as opposed to those at risk.  There is a significant selection process – which includes coding to insure diversity of talent in the various cabins. There are ‘themed ‘days. Lights are out 11-12 (doesn’t happen) and up again early.
Leadership styles are identified (Lions, Koalas, Peacocks and Owls - referred to as the RYLA Zoo). Randy suggested ARMadillos – LB and Sally can be first picks. Past subjects included environmental issues and bullying. Camp comprised of ½ day facilitation, ½ day activity. 4 years ago created ‘day 7’, usually the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Beth talked about creating a ‘legacy’ project and college summit in January.
Beth drew Patty’s ticket – no luck yet.
Meeting adjourned at 7:15
