Rotary Foundation Chair Larry Hoof (center) presented Paul Harris Plus One recognition to Steven Schaefer (left) at our May 4, noon meeting, presided over by President John Cress (right).

Steven graduated from Central Washington University in the Fall of 1988 after changing majors five times. Not wanting to sit behind a desk, Steven joined the Air Force, training to sit behind the yoke of an airplane. Downsizing of the Air Force following the dismantling of the Berlin Wall allowed Steven to pursue other career paths.

His next adventure as a Seattle Police Officer quickly brought the realization that life could end tragically in an instant. Today he is the owner of a small business in Walla Walla and is deeply appreciative of all the mentors and protectors in his life.

Steven says he is “thankful to Rotary and all it does to make our community and the world a better place; for all the people in this room that are role models and mentors both to me, and to so many other people. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

Thank you Steven!
