Dear Rotarians,

Thank you to all who helped with the barbeque.  We had an issue with the ribs but thanks to Kent and the ladies selling tickets it was handled well.  Zach also did a nice job of informing the public on Facebook.  We sold out again which is great and we had a beautiful day.  We are very thankful for all that we did together to create revenue for the initiatives that we support.

Bob Homan has refined the process of selecting scholarship winners from Kenowa Hills and Comstock Park as we reinforce the concept of “Service above Self” in our young people. We also thank the Rotary Scholarship Committee who took the time to review all the applications. It is often a difficult decision.  We present two $1,000 scholarships – one to each school every year.  They receive $500 the first year and if they continue then they receive another $500 for the second year.

Bob and the committee also interviewed Junior candidates suggested by the counselors from each school.  They then select those who are funded for Life Leadership Training in June.  Rotarians are invited to visit the camp near Tustin, MI and enjoy a day or evening with the students.  If you are interested please get in contact with Bob for details.

As my term of office comes to an end, I would like to thank the members of our Club for offering such great support to my family and me.  You all helped with different projects though out the year, enhancing fellowship and success. I know from Interclub and interactions with other clubs that Comstock Park Rotary is looked upon with high regard. My wish is that our Club continues to achieve and accomplish all that we can to make our community stronger and vibrant for many years to come.

Cindi Witke is going to be a positive leader and create many opportunities for our club by keeping our club going in the right direction.   Please feel free to go to the board meetings on the 3rd Thursday of each month.  The new location for board meetings, beginning in July, will be at Farm Bureau Insurance, hosted by Zach Smith, in the lower level of the building.

Many thanks to our club membership and the efforts you have made to make our Club better and for all the board members that give our club new energy each month.  Thank you to Rick Van Setters, who is completing his three years on the board. He has provided  “Service Above Self” on the board and contributions to our club.  Rick had great ideas such as “done in a day” activities with the Salvation Army at Christmas time and many more.  We look forward to the new board members attending our June board meeting.  We will install our new and exciting board members at our June 21club assembly meeting.  Brent Beuschel, President

VOLUNTEERS FOR ONE PROGRAM A MONTH SOUGHT!

Please note that during this new Rotary year, we will have a slightly different format for lunch meetings.  Program Chairs will only need to provide one speaker each month who will speak on the 1st. Thursday.  The second Thursday will feature Trivia (read your latest edition of the Rotarian) and a member spotlight.  Cindy will draw names to select who is being featured.Committees will also sit together for lunch and can use that opportunity to make plans.  The 3rd meeting is Club Assembly.  The fourth or last monthly meeting will be a "Done-In-A-Day project.  There will be some variation because there are 4 months with 5 Thursdays.
