Happy February, my fellow Rotarians,

February is the month for expressing love for the many people in our lives. We give our spouses flowers, chocolate or go out to eat. Kids in school give each other candy hearts with cute sayings. Teens have dances. Rotarians just continue to do what they do best-help in the community. It is not always recognized but it is always appreciated

Last week a group of Rotarians went to Feeding America, while there a total of 1500 pounds of cereal was bagged for distribution in 2 pound bags for the community. Working together in a smooth efficient manner, Rotarians get results. A thank you will never be heard from the recipients of the cereal. So I will say it, “job well done”, That was an amazing feat, and a blessing to everyone involved.

In this light, Alpine Township has a request for the Comstock Park Rotarians. With the 175th anniversary upon us, the Township is asking for Rotarian help in putting on a community celebration. Not confirmed dates are a two day celebration on July 22nd and 23rd. The 22nd being a dedication of the new fire station on Henze Ave. The 23rd would be the main celebration at the Alpine Sports Park. People will be needed to help make the day a fun community event.

This February, the 3^rd, we will have our board meeting at 11 a.m. at the Township offices. We will need to discuss the upcoming barbecue season, and our scholarships for the coming year. We will also look for new endeavors to tackle.

The transition at the Swan appears to be going well, it is nice that we can stay and continue to meet there. Also, Christy may be looking for help at the elementary school to assist with reading and writing skills.

This weather makes it difficult to assist outdoors in the community, (a real cold and snow covered winter), but spring will be coming and projects along with it. God Bless, see everyone on Thursday.
