Most of you have heard that the Swan Inn Motel and Restaurant has been sold. We were informed that Nov. 30th would be the last day it would be open as the Swan Inn. That time frame may have now changed. I am in contact with the attorneys on the sale and awaiting further information on whether we can continue to have lunch at this location. Please watch your email for updates on where we will meet. WE WILL MEET AT THE SWAN INN AT 12:10, DECEMBER 2.
The Board of Directors will meet at 11 a.m. at the Alpine Township office on Dec. 2nd. At lunch on the 2nd, we will finalize the slate of officers for 2021-2022. The election will be on Dec. 16th to decide who will represent us officially. The new Board of Directors will be installed in June to begin their terms July 1.
Our service project this month is the Salvation Army Annual “Bell Ringing” on Dec. 16th (Thursday) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. We like to have two people scheduled for each hour. With two people, if it gets too cold, they can alternate at the entrance. We ring bells at the north entrance to Walmart. Aprons and a kettle are provided. Be sure to dress warm. You will receive an email shortly to sign up.
I know all of us share many of the same virtues about our community and our desire to make life easier for those that struggle. But in this month we have to look at everyone, the young, old, unemployed, employed, rich, poor, middle of the road incomes and just put a smile on every person we meet. Just a hello, or Merry Christmas, even a ‘How are you today?” This will accomplish much toward that goal.
Thank you all because you make me smile and brighten my day. Receiving a present is warming and delightful, but receiving a smile or a hug is a deep penetrating joy that fills the heart and soul, that is ever lasting. We will warm the hearts and souls of visitors at Walmart when they pass us and we greet them with a cheer and smile. Some will donate and feel the uplifting of helping others and the spirit of the season. Everyone receives a smile that day and every day from a Rotarian.
