Fall is on the horizon and it is time to focus on specific projects and goals. Each committee needs to meet, choose a chairman, determine goals, and bring those back to the club at a weekly meeting. Then we can focus on priorities and begin to implement them. If you haven't signed up for a committee, you NEED to select one. The committees are Club Administration, Membership, Public Relations, Rotary Foundation and Service Projects. You may also be on more than 1 committee if you choose too. The list will be circulated again this Thursday for anyone who has not done so. At this point we have 13 members who have done this. We need the help of everyone!

The Service Projects committee is critical to our success as a club and it is how we can grow and accomplish great things whether small projects or large ones. We can utilize the Rotary Foundation to accomplish the goals we set forth. Here is some basic information on how this works.

The Vision of the Rotary Foundation through Grants

Throughout our District many clubs focus on helping people in their own community and throughout the world. In cooperation with our District and The Rotary Foundation, your Club has the ability to access grant funds to finance and carry out these humanitarian projects to improve the quality of life for those less fortunate.Grants are available to Rotary Clubs in District 6290 to help fund their humanitarian projects that fall within the six areas of focus determined by the Rotary Foundation.

These six areas of focus are:

Peace and conflict prevention/resolution Maternal and child health

Disease prevention and treatment Basic education and literacy

Water and sanitation Economic and community development

We have three types of grants available:

District Local Grants - These grant requests are generally between $500 and $2,500 per club (or $3,500 per club if a collaborative project) and help to support a humanitarian project within your local club’s area. Matches for these grants are available from the District on a $1 to $1 basis.

District International Grants - These grant requests are generally between $1,000 and $5,000 per club to fund a project in another country. You must have support by an international (host) Rotary club, or a qualified NGO to assist with this project. Matches for these grants are available from the District on a $1 to $1 basis, and matches from The Rotary Foundation are also available.

Global Grants – Projects in excess of $30,000 which help fund an international project and must have the collaboration of an international Rotary club to assist with the project. Matches for Club cash are available from the District up to $10,000. The Rotary Foundation may match Club cash up to 3.5 to 1.
