As we get ready to fire up the grill, watch fireworks, and enjoy time with friends and family this Fourth of July, I’ve been thinking about how closely Rotary’s mission ties into what this holiday is all about.
Independence Day reminds us of the courage and commitment it took to build a free nation – people stepping up, working together, and believing in something bigger than themselves. Sound familiar? That’s exactly what we do as Rotarians.
Every time we volunteer, support local projects, or lend a hand to someone in need, we’re honoring the very spirit of July 4th. We’re using our freedom not just to enjoy life but to make life better for others. That’s what “Service Above Self” is all about.
We’re lucky to live in a country where we can come together, take action, and make a difference. As Rotarians, we don’t take that for granted. We show up, we pitch in, and we lead with heart.
So, as you celebrate this week, whether it’s at the parade, the fireworks, or just relaxing with your loved ones, I hope you also take a moment to feel proud of the part you play in your community, and in our club.
Happy Fourth of July, and thank you for all you do to keep the spirit of service alive.
