April Bulletin (Mar 29, 2021)

When you are having fun the time fly’s, this last month is no exception. First let me say thanks to all my friends at Rotary. Our last meeting is what Rotary is all about, helping the communities around the world, and having fun doing it. It sure was good to be back at the Swan Inn af5ter a year’s reprieve. It might not seem like it but we are making progress on our fund raising endeavors. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alex Arends for his excellent work in raising about $800 through Facebook. This is a continuing opportunity.. Also Alex applied for a District grant regarding the Zinser School project and our club has been reimbursed $2500.00 towards expenses. Our purchase and distribution of masks in the beginnings of Covid-19 were also part of the grant.

I am waiting to hear from my contacts at the Parks Department on how we might best use Dwight-Lydell Park to our advantage in serving the chicken dinners.

The federal govt. is giving money away to all local communities. How it can be used will be very narrow path. I am hoping that Alpine Township and Plainfield Township might be willing to give some funds to CP Rotary, and CP Community Organization to support all the work they do for local seniors, children and minority groups. This will help make up for the last years deficits, as well as help with programs that are new and on-going.

This week I was thinking that we would do a "Done In An Hour" project. My problem is I have a very important meeting scheduled at 1:30, so I would like to change the project time to 11:00 a.m. on April 1, at the Henze Center. 1100 Henze, behind Sam’s Club. The winds this last week have blown paper bags and other things onto the property and street right of way. It looks terrible. So if you are able, please join me at 11 a.m. and we can pick up paper and plastic bags untill 11:45, then head over to the Swan for lunch. We will be inducting our new members that day.

I am trying to line up a speaker for our April 15th meeting. Remember fines double this week because we ran out of time two weeks ago and Kent has been holding back on his humor for far too long.We are Blessed, Greg Madura, President

DISTRICT NEWS

Please look at the District Website (https://www.ridistrict6290.org) for an update on many upcoming District events. You will also learn about how other clubs are fund-raising and just having fun. There is a lot going on in the District including:

-April 12th Life Leadership (RYLA) Applications with payment are due at the District Office or sooner!

-April 15, 17 and 18th we have an outstanding lineup for our District Conference and hope to see you there.

-April 24th is the Rotary Great Lakes Watershed Clean-up. Hope your Club is participating and including family, friends, Boy Scout Troops, colleagues. It is a great time to show what Rotary can do in your community.

-May 12th is the Zone wide Rotary Foundation Gala! The registration link : https://portal.clubrunner.ca/50077/sitepage/trf-2021-event/trf-2021-participate

This will be a lot of fun and we are going to have our District Pre-Gala event from 7:00pm and 8:00pm and then join the Zone wide event.
