We all look forward to having fun and giving back. These last couple of weeks we have worked together with the Interact Students of Kenowa Hills. The Senior Prom was very well attended by 160 people and a special thank you to all members that helped on the committee to get donations from area business end on the day of the event to volunteer. To all the time that Alex Arends and Christy Nowak put into planning and tying up the loose ends. It was a great success and gave Comstock Park Rotary Club nice exposure to the seniors of our community. Also thank you to all that attended the Interclub meeting in Greenville. We had 43% attendance. Cedar Springs received $150 for having 53%.
This month we have an opportunity to help serve the less fortunate: “Feeding the Starving Children” on Saturday, May 12th from 12:00 to 2:00pm at BellaVista Church with Dan Clark leading us. Please bring your kids or grandchildren any age from kindergarten on up to help in this community wide event.
Please plan on attending a fun evening out on May 9th at Amore for fellowship and fun with your significant other or spouse. Please get in touch with Christy if you have any questions. We all like to have some fun together before the heat of the summer begins with the barbeques in the park.
A special thank you goes to Bob Homan and the Scholarship and Life Leadership committees for interviewing students at Kenowa Hills and Comstock Park. The Dream Scholarship winners this year are Megan Titus from Kenowa Hills and Caitlyn Chua from Comstock Park who will each receive $1,000 over two years. This would not be possible to do without all our hard work at the barbeques this summer.
We are looking for some help from younger members of our club to be a part of the cleanup crew. With my family growing and if I have a night visitation the day of the barbeque we need others to know what it takes to be in charge. Bob Homan and Bernie Spruit are getting older and could also use some assistance with cleaning the grills and transporting the trailer.
A big thank you to all members that help to make our club better and for all the Board Members that give our club new energy each month.
