Thank you to everyone who assisted in any way to make our "Get Acquainted With Rotary" event on September 26 a success.  A special thank you to Kathy Hegedus, Administrative Director of District 6290, who was our main speaker.  Also thanks go to Kent Gagnon, who talked about our club and what it means to be a Rotarian. Assistant Governor, Jim White, was also in attendance and shared his experiences.

The Membership Committee (Alex Arends, Sharon Steffens and Janet Hulett), planned the event. However, it would not have been successful without the assistance of Christy Nowak, Liz Knapp, Diane Epps, Greg Madura, and Cindy Witke.

Our guests were Betty Blase, Tom Antor, Andrew Grysun, Nick Brower and Daniel Weber.  Their sponsors are contacting each one to see if they have any questions.  We hope to increase our membership shortly.

This event was held at the new Alpine Township Henze Center which will be converted to Fire Station #1 for Alpine.  It will also have a community room and provide many services for the Fire Department.  We appreciate the generosity of Alpine Township in allowing us to use their facility not only for this event but also for the historical research we have undertaken.

History Project:  The initial sorting is done so now we are continuing to weed out duplicates and get a computer list of what we have. Then decisions will need to be made on what should be scanned, digitized, or kept in paper form. How & where do we store anything?  What can we preserve through the Historical Commission of Alpine Township?  We need your help to get this project to completion.  Can you spare some time to assist us?     Please contact Sharon or Gayle

Education Summit:  District 6290 is sponsoring this event which will be Saturday, October 19 at Baker College, Cadillac.  Cost is $25 and you can register online.  Details on the program are available.  Our club's policy is that your registration fee is covered by the club.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about Rotary and all it has to offer.
