My best wishes to all for the new year. 2022! I hope everyone had a magnificent holiday season. Spending time with family and friends is priceless, and the memories are everlasting. As this season of rejoicing and celebrating ends, let us not forget all of the joy and happiness that we have brought to many people in our community and across the world. Even if it is a sandwich when someone is hungry, a sweater when someone is cold, or time given to help those in need, it is a service to others that won't be forgotten. All of you have contributed to making life nicer than it would have been for someone. None of us are miracle workers, but together we do amazing things.
The challenge now is to top what we have done in the past. Ringing the bell for the Salvation Army and greeting visitors at Walmart was fun and easy. The weather cooperated, and we completely filled the bucket. We could not squeeze another dime in at the end of the night. Those funds will help a lot of individuals. Shortly, we will be volunteering at Feeding America, and that is just the start.
Our ability to make positive changes defines why we meet, and why we accept the challenge of “Those that can dream of a better tomorrow, can make it happen.” What makes me proud, is the thought that in this very difficult time, which is different from previous challenges such as a recession and turn down of the economy, this is different because it is viral, a possibility of severe illness or death. My own job has taken on new challenges as have all of yours, but we adjust and carry on. Things will be better soon, I hope. We will have a new normal, and we will continue to make the world a nicer place for everyone.
My wish is for each of you to energize your life with lots of love from family and friends, peace and happiness for all, and a safe and healthy year. We also need to bring that energy to Rotary and a continue our commitment to :Service Above Self" Greg Madura, President
