As October unfolds, Rotarians around the globe are reminded of the monthly theme: Community Economic Development. Community economic development encompasses more than job creation. It’s about transforming the quality of life for residents by fostering inclusive growth, promoting financial literacy, and encouraging innovation.
Rotarians are uniquely positioned to drive community economic development because of our diverse professional expertise and dedication to service. During this month, let’s capitalize on our collective thinking to answer the following questions and, more importantly, act on them:
What are the pressing needs of the Comstock Park community?
What resources or skills can we contribute?
What partnerships can be formed to maximize impact?
Together, we can turn the principles of Community Economic Development into lasting change, one project at a time. This October, let’s think creatively, act boldly, and continue building a Comstock Park community.
Also in October is World Polio Day. As Rotarians, we are driven by the quest to eradicate Polio, and we are closer than ever! According to Rotary International, Rotarians have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease (https://www.rotary.org/en/our-causes/ending-polio). I encourage all of us to take action on World Polio Day (October 24th) by doing our small part of donating to this worthy cause.
