UPDATE ON VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, EVENTS & PROJECTS
MARCH 11: Comstock Park Outreach is seeking volunteers to assist in chaperoning a "FUN NIGHT OUT" at the Three Mile Project, 3050 Walkent Dr. in Walker. The attendees are students from some of the classes they sponsor. The time is from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Set up is a 5:30.
MARCH 23: Christy and Dan Nowak have invited the club to a Chili Cook-off on Friday, March 23rd, at their home beginning at 6:30 pm. Please bring chili or a side dish, but let Christy know what you are bringing. You can park on the cul-de-sac or on the hill by their side door. Please reserve the spaces on the hill for those who have trouble walking. Please note that there are some stairs to get into the house. You can reach Christy at 616-784-1309 or 616-540-5903. APRIL 18:BEHOP SENIOR SOCK HOP! 3-5 p.m., Comstock Park High School, Fine Arts Center. Volunteers are needed to set up and take down. Seniors (60 & older) are welcome to attend. JOSE DOUGLAS: Jose, our Community Police Officer, is seeking a grant or support for a Kent Co. Sheriff's summer camp in July at Stoney Creek. This will be a week long for third and fourth graders. Contact Jose for more details.
CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY: Jose has information on the Academy which is open to local citizens. It is a 13 week course and extremely interesting.
ROTARY HISTORICAL PROJECT: This Thursday, the 7th, we plan to pick up the materials that Doug Gordon prepared for us before he passed away this fall. There are several boxes including many pictures. First, we need two men that can help in getting the boxes out of Kathy Gordon's basement this week either before or just after Rotary.
Please contact Sharon prior to Thursday to let her know who is helping and what time you are available.
We will need a location to do find out and sort what we have been donated. There are also materials in the closet and other Rotarians homes that could possibly be included.
There may be a number of duplicates particulary of pictures. This is a project that will take more time than a Board meeting. We will need to determine how the materials and pictures will be archived. Some things could be placed on Club Runner for our club. Pictures may need to be scaned. The Alpine Historical Commission is willing to be a repository for items about Rotary which has contributed a great deal for the community since 1952. Volunteers will be needed to complete this porject which should be interesting.
