Wow, the last three years have really flown by since I joined the Comstock Park Rotary Club. It has been a very different experience from my 5 years with the Muskegon Rotary Club, but it has been equally rewarding.

I look to my new role as President of the Club with excitement as well as a little bit of trepidation. Can I make a difference? There is so much I’d like accomplish over the next year by continuing to grow our club, engage the talents and drive of our members and to help make our
community and our world a better place for future generations to come. So I realize the only way I can make a difference is if we all strive to make a difference together.

One of the things, I plan to do is to conduct a survey to find out what being a Rotarian means to each of you. I’d also like to implement the Red Star Committee that was successfully used in the Muskegon Rotary Club to help new members get acclimated to our club. A Red Star would be placed on their Rotary Badge. New Members would be asked to complete their Bio on ClubRunner, attend a board meeting, volunteer and help out at our major events and join a committee. Once, they have completed the tasks, their red star would be removed.

I would like to navigate how we can possibly add a Sundown Club and/or Rotaract Club with a possible meeting time of 6-8 p.m. at a TBD place on West River Drive. This would allow those interested in our club and unable to attend a Thursday noon meeting, to become a Rotarian/ Rotaract.

I’d also like to have some fun and put together an event for September to get together outside of Rotary meetings and invite family, friends, and future Rotarians, etc.

THANK YOU GREG AND THE 2021-2022 BOARD

Many thanks go to retiring President, Greg Madura, and the Board of Directors for the past two years which had many challenges. Covid disrupted our lives in every way and made meeting difficult. We met in the Family of Christ Church which Alpine Twp. had recently purchased. We met in parks as well when the weather was good and on Zoom when it wasn’t.

Greg and the Board succeeded in navigating through all the changes and we have survived. Not all clubs have been able to weather this storm. Thank you all for not giving up. We have much to do for our community and the world. We look forward to building on our strengths, engaging new members, new ideas, more projects and continuing to make a difference.
