President Hugh was away this week. In Perth for out-patient visit to Plastic Clinic at RPH for follow-up for the finger. He spoke very highly of the care received at RPH
The visit to the Clinic was significantly over-shadowed by the birth of 10th grandchild, Ruby Louise Erin, a little sister for Austin Hugh Douglas, on 19th September. Mother Jennifer Goor (nee Lavery) was our OBEX to Denmark in 2008 . Husband Adam (former RYLA camp leader) is understandably very proud and happy.

– Jo Clarke: Please return Fit for Purpose surveys that were sent out as emails.
– Peter Sukiennik: We have 35 volunteers travelling to Landor races. Only a couple of Rotarians!
– Grant Woodhams: Please sign the card for Bob Symington who is home from hospital in Perth. Card will be emailed to Bob.
– Grant Woodhams: Can someone collect a Radio Auction pledge from Mandurah in the next couple of weeks? (Laurie Dines indicates he can).
– Russell McKinnon: Next Tuesday 9.30am at Geraldton Golf Club we are holding another radio auction precall. - This has now been cancelled
– Russell McKinnon: Rotary Down Under magazine has published a story on Ollie Carlyon's bike which we purchased.
– Peter Moore: Bicycles for Humanity has now rebuilt over 2200 bikes since it started in Geraldton. They hope to have 200 sent to East Timor before Christmas.

Inbound Exchange Student Sofia Underland: This week she had tests at school in Maths and Biology. They were difficult because the terminology is different to what she has learnt at home in Norway. In the school holidays she will be heading down to Donnelly River with her host family and after that going on a Rotary exchange student camp.

President's Report - Hugh Lavery:
Australia’s worst naval disaster occurred on 19 November 1941 when HMAS Sydney II was lost following a battle with the German raider HSK KORMORAN, in the Indian Ocean off the Western Australian coast. Geraldton was the last port visited prior to her demise. The loss of the SYDNEY with its full war complement of 645 sailors remains etched in the nations psyche. The KORMORAN was also sunk, but 317 of its crew of 397 survived. The fate of the Sydney remained one of Australia’s greatest wartime mysteries until the location of the wreck in 2008.
