Nicky Howe is a great proponent of  engaging young leaders to become aspiring Board members and having an active role to play on Community NOT FOR PROFIT and Aged Care Boards.

The program is led by Southcare Inc. (an aged care and community services organisation based in Manning) in association with 38 Community Partner organisations.

Its objective is to strengthen the leadership and governance capacity of the aged care and not for profit sector by engaging young people and organisations in a sector wide collaborative approach which facilitates the involvement of emerging young leaders on Boards.

Seventy-six young leaders, under 40 years old, have now graduated from the program.

The Program won the 2013 ACSWA Best New Project Award.

She is the author of “Building Better Relationships with Those You Lead”, a thesis titled “Coaching – a vehicle for managers’ learning and motivation to transfer of learning and recently co-authored a book titled Difference Makers: A leader's guide to championing diversity on boards.

She has presented at international and national conferences in the areas of governance, leadership, management, coaching, cultural change, diversity and innovation. She holds the university qualifications of Doctor of Business Administration, Post Graduate in Public Sector Management and BA in Public Administration. She holds a Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Ontological Coaching, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Diploma and is a Fellow of Leadership Western Australia.
