Rotary - "Disrupt or be Disrupted

Lindsay was inducted into the Rotary Club of Dalkeith on 26th June 2009.   He became President Nominee in 2010-11 and President in 2012-13.   As President he chaired an innovative Board which introduced a new club website, established a highly successful Membership committee from which the club is still seeing continuing membership growth and the club also identified the need to become involved in new projects as drivers of membership participation and renewal.

Dalkeith Rotary is a vibrant club whose members and their partners enjoy the maxim of Fun, Fellowship and Fundraising. He has served on the Club Service, Community Service, Membership and Youth and International Service Committees .He was the Dalkeith Rotary Charitable Trust chair for 2013-14.

Lindsay was an Assistant Governor from 2014 to 2016 and was a member of the District Membership committee under Chair Angus Buchanan. Memorable Rotary moments include witnessing the wonderful work being undertaken by the Bali Eye Clinic surgeons in Bali in 2014 and participated in house building for needy families in rural Cambodia in 2015 – both of these projects supported by his club.

Lindsay retired in 2010 as an Insurance Broker after the sale of his business Dry Shand Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd.   In the 1980s he was President of the Old Scotch Collegians Hockey Club (now evolved into the Westside Wolves Hockey Club) and of the Old Scotch Collegians Association.   He was elected to the Executive of the Western Australian Hockey Association retiring for personal reasons - marriage and fatherhood. He was on the State Board of the National Insurance Brokers Association for six years.

In 1977, Lindsay married Helen, a Registered Nurse and they have two children Nicholas and Amy both living interstate.  He loves participating in sport playing bad golf and hockey (until 2014) and cricket (representing briefly WA in veterans hockey and cricket generally as a passenger), travel, reading and desultory gardening.
