

On September 7th, District 5050 Governor, David Lukov brought his message “Create Hope in the World” to our club members and guests. While here, he presented awards to two of our members, Susan Gage and Bonnie Sutherland. DG Lukov was then introduced to Matthew and Daillyn, this year’s RYLA representatives before being taken on a tour of some of our Community Projects.
September is Rotary “Basic Education and Literacy Month.”
Home and abroad, the Rotary Club of North Delta supports literacy.The Starfish Pack program addresses food insecurity among elementary school students at home. Our support of the Write To Read led to the building of a library in Ditidaht, an indigenous community on Vancouver Island. Through the ARES project and Rotary World Help we support basic education and literacy in Africa and the Philippines.
Lana Is Back. David Brown (Membership Chair) acknowledged her return at a recent luncheon. We are pleased to return Lana to our membership roster as she brings of wealth of knowledge from the world of Art along with her natural enthusiasm for life and service. Read more.

The Rotary Club of North Delta annually supports students in our community with scholarships and bursaries. A recent example is recipient Ethan Pease. The Delta Community College student was presented with an Award of Merit and a financial contribution from Rotarian Don Pateman and Mrs. Fiona Higgs, a faculty member.






The Rotary Club of North Delta continues to support Volunteer Cancer Drivers. Society President, Bob Smith accepts this year’s $2,000 donation from Club President, Shawn Gold. For more information about this worthy organization, click the following link.




Accepting a $1,500 donation from the Rotary Club of North Delta is Shanti Ang, Literacy Outreach Coordinator, for READ Surrey/White Rock Society. READ works within our communities to raise awareness of literacy challenges and to help people develop literacy skills necessary to meet their goals and improve their quality of life. They provide one-to-one tutoring for adults who want to improve their reading, writing, and math. Rob Bougie and Shawn Gold added glamour to the event.




Susanne Szabo-MacDonald. President of the Delta Life Skills Society was an honoured guest at our regular North Delta Rotary Thursday lunch meeting. We presented her with a donation for their Summer Fun program. The Delta Life Skills (DLS) Summer Program is a six-week summer day camp for children and youth with disabilities.
