Richard R. First and foremost (again?) for mentioning “overpowering women”.
Jon S (again?) Manchester United losing 7-0, and he stayed up to watch the train smash as well.
Michael B Described as “muscle man”, and quite rightly.
Peter P for engineering a win in the “Fools Cup” Kayak Club race by buying a handicap that would suit. The Club did raise $1000 for charity, so well done.

SPEAKER: (Phil Bianci) – introduced by Bruce Jeanes

Phil Bianchi (OAM) -Born in Collie and spent 40 years as a Public Servant. Has written 14 books on Australian History.
Phil spoke about the Canning Stock Route (CSR).

CSR was one of WA’s great construction feats.
The Canning Stock Route is a track that runs from Halls Creek in the Kimberley region of Western Australia to Wiluna in the mid-west region. With a total distance of around 1,850 km, it is the longest historic stock route in the world.
Phil’s talk was informative and interesting. Of particular note was the tale of “Helicopter”. A young aboriginal man was picked up in 1953-54 by a helicopter surveying the CSR. He had an infected knee and was flown to Derby and saved. He was thereafter named “Helicopter” and lived on to become a well-known elder and community leader.
