John Thornton led the meeting in singing the National Anthem, which he said was the best he had ever heard from us. Well, us, with the help of 24 friends.

Susan Watson announced four members’ birthdays:
Tom Langley, who is the heart of communications in the Club and does so much behind the scenes, turns 80 on 20 November.
John MacKinnon will be 82 years old on 22 November.
Neil Wilkie will be 79 years old on 22 November.
Bruce Fiegert turns 84 years old on 26 November.

- Hugh Stowell has asked all members to put the date of Monday, 11 December 2023, into their diaries for the Christmas party, which will be a sit-down dinner at the Weld Club. Members are encouraged to invite their partners, guests, friends, past and potential members. The cost is $60 per head. - Richard Ranshaw asked Club members to order fruit cakes as soon as possible in order for them to arrive in time for Christmas.
- The toy drive for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren has started! Please bring in new toys by Monday, 4 December, which will be delivered to Warwick the following week. Ages 0 to 16. Also, any new presents or gift cards for grandparents would be lovely. Thanks to Richard Ranshaw, Toyworld Claremont is offering a 25% discount to Dalkeith members if toys are bought there (not including Lego) by 3 December; the gifts will be kept there and then picked up to be taken to Warwick. Thanks to John and Beth MacKinnon for kick-starting the drive last night; they gave very generous gifts.
- Peter Panek asked all members to consider signing up for the Bicycle Network Bike Count next Tuesday, 28 November, from 7 am to 9 am. The Club will receive $70 per site; we have been allocated 19 sites. Peter has sent out an email with all the details, please contact him if you can help.

- Rotary WA District 9423 has 87 Clubs in it.
- District is here to support Clubs and help Clubs grow and strengthen.
- The current world President of Rotary International, Gordon McInally, wants everyone to bring mental health issues out into the open. RI has a vast base – it is the vital root structure of Rotary – but the Clubs are the trees that need nurturing.
- In Rotary, peace is more than no wars. It is about making peace and respecting each other.
- Ineke strongly supports the Rotary Foundation, which is now recognised as a ‘4-star’ charity.
- Ineke asked all members to support Rotary Action Day on Saturday, 14 April 2024, at The Rise in Maylands.
