ROTARY MOMENTS:
PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP AWARD
image

As an annual donor to the Rotary International Foundation, the Rotary Club of Dalkeith can nominate members or supporters of Rotary for recognition of their contributions to Rotary. The acknowledgement comes in the form of Paul Harris Fellowship recognition.

RECIPIENT – Steve Arthur Halbert
Steve joined Rotary and the Rotary Club of Dalkeith on 5 May 2016. He was sponsored by Tom Kendall.
Steve has been willing from his earliest days to contribute to the Rotary Club of Dalkeith. He was the Director of Membership and has always actively looked for opportunities to recruit new members to the Club. Steve is the District Insurance Officer and gives much time to ensuring all Clubs are compliant with and have knowledge of their responsibilities and obligations. He works very hard to look after all Rotary Clubs in the District.
Steve is a strong supporter of the Rotary Club of Dalkeith’s activities; he is generous with his time and knowledge to the betterment of the Club and Rotary and thoroughly deserves this recognition. Congratulations to Steve.

ARTICLE IN THE POST

Thank you to Jason for organising another article in The Post, celebrating the success of the Science and Engineering Challenge.

GUEST SPEAKER: Adam Hewber – introduced by Geoffrey Cahif
image
  • Adam was born with a degenerative muscle disease and whilst he had issues with balance and strength when he was growing up, he was able to walk and move around. It has got to the stage where he can no longer walk.
  • Adam’s family were told that he would not be able to attend school or achieve much in life but he debunked both those theories. He went to Christ Church Grammar School, obtained many certificates from TAFE and other institutes and has been able to work.

  • Adam founded and is the CEO of Ability Heroes. Its motto is ‘enabling people – empowering communities.’ The company is a registered charity, and its mission is to design and maintain a comprehensive website and app, delivering local access and inclusion information for people with physical and psychological restrictions to plan outings with dignity and respect.
  • Adam and his father, Joe, are at stage one in developing the project and hope to develop the website and app so that fees for services can be a regular source of income for the company.
  • Thank you for speaking to us, Adam and Joe, about your venture.
