CLUB AND COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Charitable Trust (Russell Hawkins) There is a meeting tomorrow night. Thank you to the Club members who have donated to the Trust.

Treasurer (Leon Lorenzen) Leon asked that he be sent any receipts as an email attachment, please, thus a scan or a photo of the receipt, but send it as an email attachment, not as an SMS or message to a phone. This method is legal proof.

Community Service (Anthony McGrath) Anthony thanked those members who have volunteered to go to Foodbank this Friday 7 July, details will be sent out shortly.

Environment Services (John Bolto) John spoke about the treemission coming up on Saturday, 15 July, at the Canning River and asked volunteers to sign up for tree planting.

Other Announcements Steve Halbert said that the insurance forms for the Club had been completed and lodged on 29 June, which was a big job. Premiums in insurance are constantly increasing, affecting the membership fees that Rotary Clubs charge.

ROTARY MOMENT: (Jill Elias)
Many thanks to Susan Watson for being a Jill-Of-All-Trades at the meeting this week. In addition to Susan being the new Celebrations List Manager, she was on microphone duty and also set up and packed up all the tables by herself. Thank you, Super Susan!

Thanks also to John Bolto for sorting out IT issues at the meeting.

A letter has been received from The Magic Coat Foundation, thanking the Club for its donation.
The Foundation is offering our Club members a ten percent discount on its upcoming ball on Saturday 12 August, details in the letter.
SERGEANT SESSION: (Trevor Gorey):
  • Jason van Straalen for being awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship last week but not wearing the pin tonight.
  • John Bolto, Kevin Jackson, Jonas Edner, and Neil Wilkie for a travel tax (yes, Kalgoorlie attracts the travel tax, Neil).
  • Steve Halbert and Graeme Sansom for having a pact whilst Graeme was Sergeant that Steve would receive no fines.
  • Kevin Jackson for getting the best haircut ever for $25.
  • Bruce Jeanes for his new Mercedes.
  • Anthony McGrath for never being fined.

CLUB FORUM:
President Jill led the Club forum, and Hugh Stowell took comprehensive notes. Many positive suggestions were received and will be acted upon. Some ideas included:
  • A date in August will be set for the Guess Who is Coming to Dinner, which has been popular in the past.
  • A suggestion was made of inviting other clubs to our dinner meetings. President Jill said that the District Governor would be attending here on Monday, 20 November, and four other clubs were included (Freshwater Bay, West Perth, Western Endeavour, and Mosman Park-Cottesloe).
  • Other clubs should also be invited periodically throughout the year.
  • Our sponsors, not just those remembered each week but also those who sponsor the golf day, for example, should be invited to an event, maybe a cocktail party.
  • Riotous weekends in the country and picnics have been popular events in previous years, which could be replicated.
