President Jason van Straalen opened the meeting at 6.00 pm on 5th July 2021.
Due to the meeting being on Zoom, the singing of the National Anthem was thought best not to be done with everybody having their microphones on at home, just in case it disturbed the neighbours.

Other Announcements:
Footy Tipping:
Natalie Egerton-Warburton has won round 16 with 6 wins and a margin of 10. This is Nat's fourth-round win and she is only 2 wins shy of the top position, and with a good margin.
19 others scored 6 wins but with higher margins. The best were:
Craig James
Mary Warburton
Anto Gatta
David Egerton-Warburton
Susie Davis
Only margins separate the top three. There are plenty of tippers within striking distance. There is an opportunity for those further down the rankings to be bold, as the top group seem to be following the odds to protect their position. They need to be challenged not left to hog a cosy finish.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: (Jason van Straalen)
Incoming Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta urged members to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives but also our own.
Mehta, a member of the Rotary Club of Calcutta-Mahanagar, West Bengal, India
Focusing on diversity and membership
To be able to do more through service, Rotary needs to increase membership, Mehta said. Membership has hovered around 1.2 million for the past two decades. He challenged the incoming governors to be catalysts in their districts to help increase membership to 1.3 million by 1 July 2022.
