Q: In the 1830’s Reveley’s watermill and mill--‐stream occupied a site on St George’s Terrace.
What is presently situated on that allotment?
A: The Perth Technical School and part of the Old Boys School, now The National Trust.

Kent Warburton’s granddaughter qualified at law with distinction.
Win Jones ran into PP Don Chipper and invited him to visit the Club.
John Murdoch heard from one of our past Rotary Exchange students who wished us all well.

Tony Chien’s oldest daughter had her 3rd child and his 6th grandchild.

PRESIDENTS REPORT: (Pres Jason van Straalen)
At the halfway mark, I’d like to Thank you all for the opportunity to be your president for the 21/22 Rotary year.
It’s been a steep learning curve and between moving house, renovating, moving into our new office in Chelsea Village, being the best dad I can be, and filling the role as President while running the business, there’s not been too many dull moments!
I love the challenge though, and without the support of everyone here, it would have been impossible.
A special warm thank you to Anthony McGrath and another to John Bolto. Without their support, it would have been a disaster!
To keep the warmth flowing, as president I have organised a bottle of wine for all the tables that missed out on the Question of the Week!

SERGEANT’S SESSION: ( Jon Stewart )
Fines meted out by our Sergeant included;
Everyone suffered under the cruel hand of Jon Steward with a $2 fine rising to $5 if you didn’t have the coins.
This scribe noted that members looked like those in the Hungry Jacks ads scrambling to find coins in their lounges. Surprising that a few were actually found.
Introduction of GUEST SPEAKER: John Murdoch
GUEST SPEAKER: Rev Peter Smith - Christmas Message.
Reverend Peter honoured the request by club members to keep it light with a couple of Christmas themed jokes such as;
“The Mother-in-law has come around to our home for 7 years now. This year we are going to mix it up and let her in”
Peter emphasised the work and value our Club delivers to the community. Reflecting on the past year the Christmas message is one of joy- a story of reversal of fortune.
Peter related the Christmas message to our 4-way test. They reflect the Christmas story.
Peter loves Christmas because it is truly subversive in that it lifts up the life of those less fortunate.
All people have peace with God.
We have a life second to none and of course, the story of Christmas story is about joy to the least, the lonely, lost, desperate, and those who are far-off.
Peter believes the object of Rotary is to foster and encourage the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.
The satisfaction in life is in service and the virtues we live by through the 4-way test. The Christmas story is one of service and not about ourselves.
We sing “Joy to the World . The Lord has Come” and that is the message we celebrate.
Reverend Peter made the point as he closed that he likes to finish on time at Rotary.
A thought-provoking talk about the “story of Christmas” and much appreciated by all members.
Pres Jason thanked Peter for his interesting talk and presented him with our top menu item for the last supper … A Rotary Cake and a copy of the latest Rotary Down Under Magazine.
