Guest Speaker:    John Saleeba
John gave members an update on The Esther Foundation.
Salient points from his update are below;
Our (RCD)  association with Esther started when Lindsay Dry was President around 2011.  The Club decided to assist because they did great work helping young women to get their lives back on track.  Two young women spoke to the Club and their stories were very difficult to hear.   Initially, we ran a morning tea which was very successful and started off a very good association.   This was a significant help which gave them a profile.  We also assisted with their wishlist.
Today they have a main facility in Kalamunda which houses 37 women but they are looking after a total of over 70.  They are in a $10mil facility which is owned by the State but have exclusive use.
It is now a larger organisation and has had to become more professional and governance is a larger issue.  As such,  they have a new CEO.   Johns Saleeba and Bolto met with Patricia (founder) recently.  She has stepped down but still active.  She is very happy with the new arrangements and structure.
We will still remain involved with some sort of wishlist items.  Their day to day funding issues is all in place for the foreseeable future.  However they still really appreciated the Christmas gifts to the young women and this was very special.
As a Club, we should be very happy and proud of the part we have played in their growth and success. They are in good hands.

BushFire Appeals:  Pres John Bolto
A club discussion was held regarding how, why and when we should help the Bush Fire Appeals.
Pres John will email discussion questions so we can reflect and give succinct responses to him so the Board can act in accordance with a majority of members wishes.   Donations can always be made directly through RAWS and / or our own Charitable Trust.
