CLUB AND COMMITTEE REPORTS:
John Bolto reported that the bins are now installed at Dalkeith Primary School and that Susan Watson has managed to get two bins into the Nedlands Golf Club, well done to Susan.
Anthony McGrath reported that eight volunteers had worked at Foodbank on Friday, thanks to them for attending. There are two more sessions booked for this year, in October and December and Anthony will publicise those dates and ask for volunteers closer to the events.

ROTARY MOMENTS:
- World Polio Day – As a Club we have a commitment to contribute funds to the Rotary International polio fight. Please donate at least the equivalent of a dinner fee towards this cause to the project account. There is no meeting on 25 September, as it is a public holiday. Please consider donating the dinner fee from this date towards the project. Leon reported that many members had already donated towards the cause. Thank you.
- SOS Orphanage, Botswana – A collection of items will be sent to the SOS Orphanage in Serowe in Botswana by Botala Energy. Please donate good quality second hand clothes, shoes, boots, books, toys, teddy bears, footballs, sports gear, bicycles, tricycles, and scooters. The collection point is at the Men’s Shed at the Showgrounds. An email with details has been sent to all members. Please contribute before this Thursday, 14 September.
- Foodbank – Eight volunteers went to Foodbank at Welshpool on Friday to pack breakfast, morning tea, and dinner kits. Thanks to Anthony McGrath for organising the opportunity and to Stephanie Fryer-Smith, Nigel Johnson, John Lindquist, Lindsay Dry, Kent Warburton, Richard Ranshaw, David Miller, and Jill Elias.

SERGEANT SESSION:
The President gave herself the power to be the Sergeant, ran amok, and fined everyone except the guests and herself. The Sergeant dispensed fines as follows:
- Anita Bourke for an overseas tax.
- Anthony McGrath for forgetting the Board meeting was at his place tonight after returning from Rottnest Island today, not telling Shelley about it, and saying he wanted the old Sergeant back.
- Everyone who did not volunteer at Foodbank last Friday.
- Nigel Johnson for being a taskmaster at Foodbank.
- Lindsay Dry for swearing at the tape machine at Foodbank.
- David Ellis for returning to the fold.
- John Mortimer for knowing too much information about the moon.
- John Murdoch for a travel tax and for showing his surgery photos.
- Susan Watson for her sartorial elegance.

Alison Sayer, Homeless Healthcare – introduced by Ann Bray

- Alison is the second-in-charge at Homeless Healthcare. Her brother, Andrew Davies OAM, set it up in 2008 as a not-for-profit organisation. It started as two half day clinics per week conducted out of a car.
- According to the last Census, there are nearly 10,000 people who are homeless each night in Perth. The average living age for a homeless person is about 49 or 50 years old, well down on the median of 83 years for other Australians.
- Homeless Healthcare has 65 employed staff, and it conducts 30,000 consultations per annum. The Hub is located at Highgate, mobile clinics attend where the homeless are located, and there are also pop-up GP clinics where the patients can be fed and have a shower whilst waiting. Home visits are also conducted, and there is street outreach in Perth and Fremantle. There is a Royal Perth In-Reach service for homeless people admitted to RPH. A respite centre was set up in Northbridge in November 2021.
- A goal is for homeless people to get timely medical attention so that their problems do not escalate to emergency status. Most issues seen are mental health, chronic illness, and drug use, sometimes a combination of all three.
- Homeless Healthcare bulkbills all its patients. Funding comes from the Department of Health and Philanthropy.
