SPEAKER: (DG Ineke Oliver) – introduced by John Murdoch

Ineke Oliver and her husband Geoff were welcomed to the club in her role as District Governor D9455 and incoming DG for Rotary WA in 2023-24.
Ineke introduced herself as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, and friend.

The DRC – Ineke asked who are we? In summary a successful club with a good mix of members in both diversity and demographics and experience. Can we do better?
We are an active club. i.e., Fifteen members with over 30 years of service.

The combined District Conference is on February 17th and 18th 2023 at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and has been organized for only one full day so Rotarians can elect to go to the
World Conference in Melbourne on 27-31 May 2023.

Ineke’s focus this year is on Membership and Marketing.

Taking from the newsletter of 2nd September change can be refreshing, it need not be frightening or scary. If we reflect on our lives, we have evolved through various stages and made changes
along the way to suit the environment around us, both physically and socially. In the same way, we can do that with Rotary on both a personal and club basis.

This month the vote will be taken for Regionalisation. All Presidents have been sent an information email and the club vote can be cast from 15th September within a 2-week timeframe.
If you would like further information on the vote, or what it is you are voting for, then please visit www.creatingtomorrowrotary.org. The vote is for our zone (Australia, New Zealand, and
Pacific Islands) to pilot a project which will research, trial, and test a new way of doing things in the management of Rotary which will support clubs to strengthen and grow.

Our next Adventure is in marketing and will be on Friday 11th November, again on zoom so everyone can participate. We liaise with experts in the field and if you would like to be
part of that team, please let me know. Registration details will come out closer to the time.

Ineke puts up a challenge each week in her newsletter.

The first challenge was to check out if there is one of those Rotary Road signs in your area or on your way as you move around our State. Is it in good repair? If not, then please remove or
fix it as it will be detrimental to the public image of Rotary if it looks old and tired.

Did you take up the challenge last month – checking your club’s website and seeing if it is up to date, particularly the calendar? This is sometimes the first place prospective Rotarians
look and if the information is old, it also does not give a good impression as to the current situation of the club.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it ……

This month’s challenge … when did you last talk to someone about why you are in Rotary and invite them to come with you to an event, project, or a meeting? If it was more than a month ago,
then I challenge you to try it again … did you know that most people join Rotary because they were invited?

In finishing, Regionalisation is intended to reduce bureaucracy, attract younger people as well as harnessing skills and talent across the entire zone.

Did you know district number 9423 was chosen as 2023 is the year we are starting Rotary WA?

Ineke’s presentation was informative and timely, but no cake was provided.
