Shame is false knowledge we acquire about o0urselves, specifically about our character.
This false knowledge is stored 'indefinitely' in the Long Term Memory of our brain.
We learn shame.
Shame is not an emotion, although we experience emotions, in response to shame.
Shame is a social reality, a process of social discrediting.
In the company of others(s), we walk away from the on going, lived experiences of shame, towards restorations.
Facts
The opposite of shame is honour.
Honour becomes a social and emotional reality for us.
Honor is our bond between individuals in society, manifested in codes of conduct, that are germane to society.
The person who suffers from shame doesn't need inoculation against shame, rather, they need their honour restored.
We cannot reclaim honour of our own accord; we need mentors and friends to be our advocates.
Restoration of honour can be a positive, shared, and healing, social and emotional experience.
