President John Murdoch opened the meeting at 6.30 pm on 15 August 2022.
John Thornton is not with us this evening, so please do your best in singing a chorus of Advance Australia Fair.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
Q: What was Rotary's first community service project and where was it built?
A: it was a public comfort restroom installed in City Hall in Chicago, Illinois.
 
FAMILY AND FRIENDS:
Any Rotarian who has news they would like to share regarding Family or Friends?
Nigel J – Nigel’s son has been able to visit for the 1st time in 3 years.
John M – John’s son was responsible for organizing the closing ceremony for the Commonwealth Games.

See My Home Project in Community.
 
Cans for Christmas pick-up has been set for November 27 to allow Foodbank to use the contributions for Christmas. Volunteers will be required for that weekend and delivery of the pamphlets, etc.
 
DRC’s involvement in the MY Homes Project continues with $15,000 being donated with this possibly being increased for the provision of water tanks to improve the sustainability of the project.
The current project consists of 8 units in North Fremantle and is the 1st of 3 such projects. The focus is on Homeless women above 55.
 
Membership and New Members: (Steve Halbert)
Our 1st meeting for 2022-23 was held prior to the club meeting.
The committee agreed to continue the existing objectives of
  • New members with an emphasis on ensuring calibre not numbers of members have priority.
  • Improving the quality of induction and making it the important event it is to both members and Club.
Other Announcements:
Footy Tipping:
Round 22 was won by Ondina Brash with a perfect score of 9 wins and a margin of 0.
Edward Elias also had a perfect 9 plus 0 score but unfortunately for him had a higher total margin. Close but no cigar!
