Susan Watson presented her life story.
Susan’s grandfather was a farmer in England. Her father took over the farm in Cornwell but was not suited to farming and the family moved to the Midland in the UK. She had a wonderful life as a kid with riding and a general country lifestyle.
Susan was awarded a scholarship to a posh College in London to complete her education. After graduation, she worked as a Secretary in an Engineering Office however having seen a poster about living in Australia and having met some of the touring Australian cricket team she saved the 10 pounds required and migrated to Sydney in 1964.
After marrying in Sydney she worked in a Serviced Apartment Business and was transferred to Perth in 1984 and set up in Dalkeith.
Susan was elected to the Council and Chaired the Planning Committee and later became the Deputy Mayor.
Her particular interest in Council was against the removal of trees on private properties.
Her sporting interests included hockey, tennis, cricket, target shooting and then later golf.
Susan’s community services included The Red Cross, Riding for Disabled, the Dogs Home and the Government House Foundation. In 1994 she also became involved in the Malcolm Sergeant Foundation (which later became the Red Kite Foundation)
