  • The President fined The Sergeant for NOT doing better!

GUEST SPEAKER: (District Governor 9455 - Dee Buckland)

Lindsay Dry introduced our guest speaker tonight, current District Governor 9455 Dee Buckland.

Dee started by presenting the Club with a book of 100 years of Rotary Action in Australia!

She commended the BlueSky tours and has attended a number and enjoyed the friendships made.

Her club the Rotary Club of Kalamunda has taken over from us looking after The Esther Foundation. She thanked our Club for the number of years that we supported this group and now they have relocated to her patch they will try and emulate our great work.

The Rotary International President - Shekhar Metha is a very inspiring man. His motto which we can learn from is “Service is the rent I pay for the space I occupy on this Earth”!  His theme is “Empowering Girls” which is a big call coming from someone in India.

From our District point of view, our focus for 2021-2022 is the following areas.
  • Homelessness - The My Homes project has finally started.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - Particularly reaching out to the LGBT community.
  • Aboriginal Cultural Awareness - She has started her journey in learning more. Wherever you are on this journey is ok but she personally enjoys being outside the comfort zone and opening up to new lessons and thinking.
  • Partnerships - Particularly with ECU. We have signed an MOU with ECU.  They have asked Rotary to support some Student Services. A number of Clubs have stepped up!!
  • Protecting our Environment - This is the latest Area of Focus for Rotary.

Dee then spoke about Rotary Brand awareness. Only 20% know what Rotary is. To ensure a consistent Brand ensure you use The RI Brand Centre for all logos.  Always use the approved Logos!!

Jonathan Weir then promoted the 2022 District Conference to be held on 11 -13 March 2022 in Kalamunda.

He also promoted ARH Indigenous scholarships (which RCD has supported). These ensure indigenous communities have their own doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. The DG target is to raise $10k for four places this year. Looking at $250 per 9455 Club. Pres Jason was given a pledge form to take to the next Board Meeting.

Pres Jason thanked Dee & Jon for their talks and information tonight and presented Dee with a fine bottle of wine!!
