PRESIDENTS REPORT:
Question of us all - "Membership + esp. New Club Members - to whom have we each recently spoken to about Rotary - and have we also invited them to attend a Club Meeting!?"
DG Charles...... emphasis on the importance & relevance in the Rotary calendar of June - being 'Rotary Fellowship Month '
Club Events - NB & club events of great note are to follow in the months ahead ... and as reported on by Directors I Committee Chairs and all are to be enthusiastically supported, please. A hardcore of members do participate in most of these events - however increasingly many don't ... why!?
Being 11. 75 mths. in to this Rotary year - reflect on what we've achieved YTD as a club and individually on our own Rotary journey; and what we also hope to accomplish in the next 1/4 month, for the balance of this 2018-19 Rotary year.
District Events -Besides the many Club events that preoccupy us - remember our wider Rotary District and International commitments too - eg.
Refer all to the DG's Newsletters + Districts Website for many District and other D9455 Club events were called on to support;
Clubs Forward Plan I Membership Plan - as promoted by the District for all Clubs incoming Pres. & Executive.

GUEST SPEAKER: PE John Bolto
Richard Gorham introduced John Bolto, a nice country boy as well as being another engineer.
 |
John was the last of 4 sons, born in Katanning when his mum was 42 years old and there was 10 years difference to his brothers. At the age of 18, went to UWA, boarding at St George College, fully immersed in sporting activities (ski especially), got his engineering degree, met his future wife Kim on-campus married on 15th June 1979 (only just 40 years ago). The happy marriage has produced 2 girls and one son, and now two grandkids are thrown in just for good measure.
John’s dad died at a young age of 96 in 2005, so we will be seeing John for a while yet.
As an engineer on the run, John spent time in Melbourne, London, Toronto and AUS, had 6 previous employers of good repute and since 2016 working as a consultant, i.e. a free man.
|
John outlined his Vision and Strategy for RCD for the 2019/2020 Year.
The proposed changes are broad and detailed with achievable targets, but we need to be united and pull on the same end of the rope. Please note the FY20 Calendar for look ahead planning.
As in real life, we need to change lanes to overtake, best wishes to John and RCD for a rewarding and fun year! (TC's comments)
