A: Accountant
Mehta, an accountant, is chair of the Skyline Group, a real estate development company he founded. He is also a director of Operation Eyesight Universal (India), a Canada-based organization.

Any Rotarian who has news they would like to share regarding Family or Friends?
Peter Panek shared that his 33-year-old daughter who has done a variety of university education and lastly obtained a Master in Counselling had her first day of work today!
Peter Robertson shared that his mother who suffered a severe stroke recently is progressing pretty well in her rehabilitation – hence things are looking up.
John Bolto brought to our attention the sad passing of our dear member Brian English. Brian’s funeral service will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Nedlands, (Cnr Thomas & Elizabeth) on Wednesday 21 July at 10:30 am.

With the sad passing of Brian English, I’d like to invite John Bolto to say a few words.

SPEAKER : (Kym MacCormac)
Pres Jason invited Tony Chein to introduce our Guest speaker Kym MacCormac. Tony noted among other things that Kym has been involved in architecture for the past 4 decades! He currently runs a relatively small practice.
Kym MacCormac spoke about the architecture of ANZAC House 3. Salient points from his talk appear below;
- The building is on the corner of Irwin Street & St Georges Tce. It is primarily to support military and ex-military personnel.
- ANZAC House 1 was built on part of the law court’s land 16 years after the end of WW1. It was community-driven. The building served its purpose for 44 years. It was built in the Art Deco style.
- ANZAC House 2 - Was built as part of the law court’s building and was in a similar austere style. It served its purpose for 36 years.
- Inputting together ANZAC 3, 12 different development options were considered. One being an Accor Hotel with 20 storeys.
- In the end, it is predominantly a building to serve RSL people plus a couple of other storeys.
- An advantage of the site is the views over Government House to the Swan River.
- Within the building, they have re-used the original stained glass window, the cast glass panel and original commemorative stones from the previous buildings.
- The building skin is a metallic grey symbolising a battleship or fighter aircraft.
- 3 Development approvals were required to finally get it approved.
- The final building includes a basement, ground level and 7 floors in a stepped profile.
- The outside of the building on the Irwin Street side is illuminated with lights at night to represent the 3 arms of service, White - Navy, Red – Army & Blue- Airforce. These colours are also within the flags of our four major allies being, the USA, the UK, NZ & France.
Pres Jason thanked Kym for his highly informative and entertaining talk and presented him with a famous Rotary fruit cake.
