FAMILY & FRIENDS NEWS:
President Jonasannounced that his daughter Carley was married on the weekend at Christ Church Claremont. This was followed by an Acholi (Christian) wedding with vibrant traditional dancing and ceremony.
BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES:
Susan Watson announced only one birthday (Cherry Martin, 7th August). With Susan’s suggestion and Jonas’s approval, the rose was presented to our guest speaker, Susie Rich.
CLUB AND COMMITTEES::
Leon reminded members that approx. 12 are yet to pay their subs (including Jonas himself!).
John Bolto announced the tipping winners. Steve Hollier won the round, and Craig remains in the lead. Jonas humorously noted being let down by Collingwood in his quest for a zero-point round.
ROTARY MOMENTS:
President Jonas announced a letter of thanks received from Fishability for our donation.
A letter was also received from YouthCARE, thanking the Club for its donation.

Peter Panek – for his friend winning the tipping this week.
John Bolto – fined for his friend winning Round 21 and being late for register duties ($1 per minute!).
Ken Ilet – for sneaking in a quick nine holes despite the golf course being closed.
Bob Davis – for losing his view due to a $20 million house built by a neighbour in Yunderup (“waterfront jealousy fine”).
Nigel Johnson – for talking too loudly during the national anthem, even drowning out President Jonas.
The Wine Table – Jason “lulled them into a false sense of security” before issuing their fine.
GUEST SPEAKER: Susie Rich
Introduced by Ross Mackellar, who noted that Susie has been a member of Nedlands Golf Club for over 20 years.
Susie shared her journey, beginning with her upbringing in the Brookton/Pingelly farming community and introducing her two children and three grandchildren. She attended MLC, studied science and veterinary science, and later completed a degree in molecular biology.
In the 1980s and 1990s, she played a vital role in the Brucella and Tuberculosis Eradication Campaign, managing the WA diagnostic lab that processed over 16,000 blood samples weekly, often in challenging conditions.
Her career included international consultancies in Southeast Asia and Vienna, work in animal vaccines and diagnostic tools, andpolicy development on GM crops and food safety. Susie’s engaging presentation combined humour, science and valuable insights from her extensive career.
