Presentation on Rotary Zone * Regionalisation Trial Project.
Lindsay presented and answered questions.
Video
How can we Change?       (Sorry, I could not hear the video)
Regionalisation Project Zone 8 Regionalization.
The reason for the project is simply due to the reducing numbers. Numbers have reduced from 40,000 to some 31,000 in last 10 years.
Does Rotary evolve or die?
Rotary has become archaic and unwieldy internationally and that needs to change?

RI have been talking about modernising for some 10 years.
What is Regionalisation?
It is in part an effort to create more independence worldwide. There will be 35 Regions worldwide and Rotary WA is a pilot project.

It is hoped the regionalisation will remove layers of bureaucracy and create pro-activity.
Costs will then be reduced and if this isn’t achieved, it will be considered that we will have failed in the project objectives.

A condition of the RI Board is that all members are to vote, and this will happen in December 2022.
It will be a yes/no vote and done electronically.
Lindsay recommends that we all look on the district website and also www.creatingtomorrowrotary.org

Q: Trevor Gorey
The issue is membership and our relevance to the community. Trevor compared our organization to Men’s shed in respect of member numbers.
A; Noted that Probus is also part of Rotary.
It is believed the initiative will reduce costs and improve membership.
The world is not aware of our achievements. Millennials are not interested in joining clubs and most are not even aware of Polio and what Polio plus achieved.

Q: Craig James
What is regionalization?
A : Lindsay Dry
Regionalisation is about decentralisation or “franchising” clubs to regions who will control their own destiny. (????)

Other options

Better ability to adapt.
