Steve Halbert again unfairly and feeling a little targeted like Kevin Jackson.
The wine Table as always, but $10!
Peter Panek for and a transparent attempt to get out of jury duty by wearing a suit and tie to Court. Also, innovative.
Trevor Gorey for shameless self-advertising, but as correctly Trevor should have been fined fine woodworking.

GUEST SPEAKERS: (Greg and Nini Acciaioli)
Greg and Nini were introduced by Max Hipkins of Freshwater Bay. Greg is an anthropologist and currently among other roles an Undergraduate Professor of the University of Chicago.

On September 28, 2018, an earthquake of a magnitude of 7.5 struck Paul and the coastal city of some 330,000 residents. Despite the epicentre being on land, it caused a Tsunami. Why this happened is still not understood.

The death toll is recorded at 4,340 however it is believed some 20,000 to 30,000 were killed. By way of personal example, Greg and Ninis’ sister-in-law was lost and because nobody was found she was not recorded a casualty.

Despite the substantial displacement of residents due to liquefaction in areas such as Balaroo the disaster was not classed as a national emergency and therefore very limited resources, or recovery funds were provided by the Indonesian Government. In 2020 permanent housing was provided for up to 3000 people subject to them having proof of homeownership which was very hard to provide given the circumstances.

Primarily the help given was “self-help”
Nini helped facilitate the delivery of supplies to affected areas such as Lindu/Paul. The supplies amounted to over 18 tonnes of relief supply being everyday necessities

Covid 19 caused further problems with the number of homeless people increases the risk of infection.

Greg and Nini are now looking for funding for 20 houses at $4000 per home ( $80,000).

Many thanks to Greg and Nini for an informative and sobering presentation.

Pres Jason thanked Greg and Nini for their informative talk.
