PRESENTATION BY RYLA STUDENT:

Scotch College Year 10 student, Flynn Meszarusspoke about his attendance of the RYLA Retreat earlier in the year and how the experience took him out of his comfort zone. It was an opportunity to meet other young people from across WA from different backgrounds. The program constantly challenged everyone who attended, and the tasks were designed to bring out each individual's leadership qualities.

Some of the tasks, such as the three-legged soccer game or the blind challenge, taught him to learn to slow down and listen to others around you. The tasks also taught trust.

Flynn indicated that he wants to have a career in finance, and that, in addition to providing him with meaningful connections, the RYLA weekend helped him grow as a person.
