Hope you are all doing well. Over the weekend our KGM striking Dream Team participated in the Hong Kong Blind Bowling Tournament, a 10-Pin Bowling charity event to raise public awareness of the abilities of the visually impaired through equal participation. Each team had a visually impaired teammate and to make the playing field even, they had to bowl blindfolded. Sharing some fun photos from the event.

Each May or June, Rotary International holds a worldwide convention “to stimulate, inspire and inform all Rotarians at an international level.” The convention, which may not be held in the same country for more than two consecutive years, is the annual meeting to conduct the business of the association. The planning process usually begins about four or five years in advance.
The RI board determines a general location and invites cities to make proposals. The conventions are truly international events which 20,000 to 40,000 Rotarians and guests attend. All members should plan to participate in a Rotary International convention to discover the real internationality of Rotary. It is an experience you’ll never forget.

Food for Thought: LEGUMES
Beans, lentils, and peas are great options that contain 10–20 grams of protein per cooked cup. They’re also excellent sources of fiber, slowly digested carbs, iron, folate, calcium, potassium, zinc, antioxidants, and other health-promoting plant compounds. However, legumes also contain a fair amount of antinutrients, which can reduce the absorption of minerals. For instance, iron absorption from plants is lower than that from animal sources. It’s advantageous to soak, ferment, or cook legumes well, because these processes can decrease the amounts of antinutrients. To increase your absorption of iron and zinc from legumes, you may also want to avoid consuming them at the same time as calcium-rich foods. Calcium can hinder the absorption of these nutrients if you consume it at the same time. In contrast, eating legumes in combination with vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables can increase your absorption of iron.
