On 23 April 2001 the Clock was formally handed over to the citizens of Mosgiel as the Rotary Clock and Temperature recorder in Gordon Road, as "The Mosgiel Millenium Clock". This was a joint project with the Rotary Club of Taieri. The total cost being in excess of $20,000.
The placement of a large stone, topped by a map of the Taieri Plains, was almost exclusively the donation of Barry Wood.
