Happy New Year to all members and partners. I hope everyone got to enjoy some form of festive celebrations of the period.
Congratulations to Irene as a recipient of the Queens Service Medal. Well deserved.
Thank you to Peter and Pariya for hosting the club at a very successful bar b q on the 23rd Jan. This was well attended and we even had live music from Frank and our own John Seddon. Thank you to Lea, Dave and Irene for coordinating the collection of food.
Welcome to our 2 newest members Amanda and Rue who were officially registered in January as members.
A busy time ahead with the Saddle Hill hike, and our guest speaker on Monday night Rob Gale was also looking for assistance to lay bait stations for wasps on the same day.
Rob spoke of a pilot scheme funded by the DCC to control the buildup of wasps. The targeted area is Dunedin’s town belt. Rob is the coordinator and is seeking assistance from various Rotary members to lay bait stations and retrieve them a couple of weeks later. Initially this would be biannual.
As there is no Rotary on Waitangi Monday, and I am away on holiday , John Van Delft will be taking the meetings covering the 14th and 21st Feb.
Regards Stuart
