MATTER FOR DISCUSSION AND DEBATE?
What has happened to any personal pride in being a Rotarian from a dress sense point of view. Last night at Rotary one of our members asked "why don't the men in our club wear a tie any longer." I said "some do." It was so good to see Don Murray who was nicely dressed last night congratulations Don, we were impressed. The older members of the club endeavour to keep standards by wearing a tie, and other members who from time to time come in tidy gear, is great.. It seems any member who does come 'tidy like' gets a comment or two when it should be the 'scruffy buggers' who should be fined, then we might get the standard to improve instead having a competition as to how scruffy our members can get. Being casually dressed is fine at casual functions or the middle of summer but Rotary always had a formality at meetings, and members dressed appropriately. We just have to look at our senior sports clubs and how tidy they look when they get dressed and out as a team. Their coach knows that tidy dress goes with discipline and it improves on field performance. Should we as a club regain some pride in how we appear to our visitors?
