Dear Stuart & Mosgiel Rotary
I am writing to express my sincere and heartfelt gratitude for your generous sponsorship, which made it possible for me to travel to London and the UK as a member of the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company (YSC). Your support was instrumental in making this experience a reality, and I am incredibly grateful.
The entire trip was truly an experience of a lifetime. I had the privilege of working with professional actors and tutors who provided invaluable insights and a deeper understanding of Shakespeare's work. The intensive workshops and rehearsals in the 10 days leading up to our performance were transformative, and I learned so much about the craft of acting and collaboration.
An absolute highlight was undoubtedly performing on the legendary Globe stage as part of the Midnight Matinee series. Performing scenes from Romeo and Juliet on that historic stage was a dream come true, and a moment I will cherish forever. It was an honour to represent SGCNZ and New Zealand in such a special way.
Beyond our performance, our time in London was filled with visits to iconic theatres and attending both musicals and plays, which broadened my appreciation for the theatrical arts. Our journey to Stratford-upon-Avon also provided a deeper connection to Shakespeare's life and legacy.
Your contribution has done more than just fund a trip; it has supported my artistic development and given me confidence that will stay with me for the rest of my life. The skills and memories from this journey are something I will carry forward in my future endeavours.
I am sorry I cannot present this letter of thanks in person as I now reside in Christchurch, studying at NASDA (National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art), however through my close ties with Trinity Catholic College, I will continue to contribute to Dunedin Schools Shakespeare competitions in the future.
Thank you again for your generosity and for being a part of this unforgettable chapter in my life.
Sincerely,
Phoebe Harris
