School Working Bee
Bradford School
Bradford School is tucked away in a quiet cil-de-sac in Kaikorai Valley, a decile 4 co-educational school teaching years 0-6 with a role count of 80.
Pre covid the substantial school grounds were used to run a vegetable garden, small orchard and a few hens, providing a teaching and sharing opportunity with the children on the positive agricultural aspects of growing veggies and fruit. However during covid and post covid the gardens and orchard have been left, are now overgrown and need some tender loving care. The school is seeking help in brining the gardens and orchard back to life, share and teach the children all aspects of growing their own fruit and vegetables. The school is asking for assistance in the following areas:
1. Working Bee Saturday 6 July 10am -1pm: Volunteers needed to help clean up the gardens.
2. Teaching Volunteers, commencing term 3 (22nd July 2024) Volunteers needed on a roster to go into the school once a week for about 45mins, depending on numbers you might only need to go twice per term, to hang out with the kids, sharing your gardening knowledge and expertise.
