A selection of new zip up Hi-Viz vests have been ordered.  Once they have arrived, they will be screen printed with the Rotary Logo and  “Mosgiel Rotary at Work’ on the back.  For health and safety purposes it is recommended that members wear these vests to ensure that they can easily be seen.   Besides the importance of being seen from a H&S perspective, it is a fantastic way to advertise what we are doing within our community.  The vests are located in the cupboard at Burns Lodge.  Size range are from large through to 5 XL.

 

 

 

Planning is well underway for the book sale – 4^th, 5^th and 6^th of September 2020.   A list was circulated last Monday night for members to advise when they are available to assist at the sale.  All help is appreciated.  We have the assistance of Taieri Rugby club and Mosgiel Scouts to help carry and shift the books during set up and pack up, respectively.  It is important to remember to correctly lift boxes so that you don’t injure yourself – better still, ask these young and fit people to shift, haul and lift the boxes of books.  Both organisations will receive a donation from the book sale for their support and help.

 

The team have been busy cutting and splitting firewood.  A very impressive pile of dry, split wood is ready for distribution to families in need within our community. If you can help on a Saturday morning (next working bee time to be advised) in splitting, stacking or loading trailers for distribution contact Stuart Officer.

 

 

 

Keep an eye on the planter boxes around Mosgiel.  John van Delft has had a series of signs with Rotary Logo printed and ready for installation on the boxes.  During the summer months a project will be developed to paint, weed, and provide maintenance on these boxes.  They are a great asset to Mosgiel’s beautification, and the club should be proud to be involved in such a great.  Special thanks for John for his horticultural knowledge and expertise in keeping these planter boxes looking so vibrant.

 

The visit of Nurse Janet as our speaker to update us on the work of ROMAC and the work of the volunteer medical professionals who do such outstanding assistance to children from poorer countries who have had accidents or disabilities. It was an opportunity to empty the ROMAC tin which is circulated round the tables each week. Over $1800.00 in cash was counted out and Directors agreed to round it up to $2000.00. A cheque could not be presented as their bank no longer accept cheques. Dave is sorting out a fix.
