While relaxing in my favourite chair I enjoy the the activity of the birds (feathered kind) which spend time picking the worms out of the lawn. While watching a thrush on the lawn there was a bang when another thrush hit the glass door with considerable force then staggered to its feet across the concrete, obviously severely concussed. The injured bird continued to stand still for ages with only slight movements of its head. I thought it would only be a matter of time before it died. Meanwhile another thrush probably a younger one which was working the lawn over kept its distance about two metres away and watching the injured bird, with caution. After a period, it hopped over and round the sick bird watching it closely then hopped up to it as to ask if it was all right. It then hopped away across the lawn and pecked out another worm which it carried over to the wounded bird and gave it the worm to eat, then the caring bird hopped away and carried on over the lawn pecking worms. I don't know how the story ends as I was distracted and when I got back the two birds were gone so I can only assume all's well and a bird is still nursing a very sore head. What a lovely act of kindness. If I hadn't seen it myself I wouldn't have believed it.
