Jock Henwood was a Rotary Exchange student from South Africa in 1996. At the completion of his stay, he presented this trophy to the Rotary Club of Mosgiel as a special gesture of thanks and appreciation for the friendship, hospitality, and support he received during his year in New Zealand.

Jock left it to the club to determine how and to whom the trophy should be awarded. With particular consideration given to Jock’s own qualities of enthusiasm, service, and willingness to contribute, the club decided that the Jock Henwood Trophy would be presented to a Rotarian who has given outstanding service to the Rotary Club of Mosgiel.

This year, the trophy is awarded to Irene Mosley in recognition of her exceptional commitment and service to Rotary. Irene’s contribution extends well beyond our club through her active involvement at district level and her support of numerous Rotary activities, including the Saddle Hill Hike.

She is always among the first to volunteer, whether it is assisting with club projects, district events, or supporting communities from Dunedin to Balclutha and beyond. Her willingness to help, organise, and ensure that things happen has made her an invaluable member of both the club and the wider Rotary family.

There is a simple phrase that perfectly captures Irene’s approach to service: “She gets stuff done.” Her dedication, reliability, and commitment to serving others embody the very qualities that the Jock Henwood Trophy was established to recognise.
