Hey Merv.,
I’ve been enjoying my time heaps here in France and have made so many new friends. Just this weekend I went to Disneyland Paris with the other exchange students in my district to say goodbye to my oldies. It sucks that we have to say goodbye to them because I’ve gotten so close to all of them! In a couple days I go on my euro tour which I’m getting pretty excited about.
I’m definitely struggling with the language a bit. Even though I’m trying hard to learn it for some reason it’s not sticking in my head. Even simple words that are important for making a sentence make sense I always forget but hopefully it comes to me soon.
My rotary club here in France are very nice to me but i think they don’t think I’m trying hard to learn the language. A lot of the other exchange students can speak a lot better than me. But they all have already learnt another language (like English) so they are use to it.
The guy in charge of the exchange students in my district is a little crazy and hotheaded and it seems heaps of exchange students have been having trouble with him but he’s stepping down and a new person Isco taking over his job at the end of the month so hopefully it gets less stressful and a bit nicer.
I think i came to France thinking the rotary here was like the rotary in New Zealand but I was definitely wrong. New Zealand clearly has one of the best rotary organisations in the world in terms of friendliness, wanting to help and with how nice everyone is.
