Developments of the Silverstream Planting - Invermay section.
Due to Covid lockdown no actual work was possible by members and other groups involved in planting.
Kevin Knowler, the manager of Invermay did, however, get his heavy machinery man out to prepare more track along the Silverstream as well as clearing the AgResearch dump ground and dig out a natural pond area as well as improving the adjoining wetland site.
Plants supplied by Ribbonwood nurseries have been delivered in readiness for planting. Craig Simpson from Landcare NZ, Kevin and I had a planning meeting
last week to determine the way forward. It was also decided that if possible, to get some consultancy advice on siting of the various species in the next week or two. It is envisaged to commence planting in October when various days of planting events by different interested groups and individuals. Planting dates to follow.
