John Wallace was Club President.
The entertainment for the evening was by the group "Hawthorn". This band played their first gig at the club change over night 40 years ago.
Mike Lawlor was inducted into the club. Robert Muldoon called a snap election. A state of emergency was called in Southland due to extensive flooding. Poi E was top of the NZ music charts and the film "Terms of Endearment" won best picture Oscar. Milk was delivered to your gate in glass bottles costing 90c per bottle, petrol was 75c per litre.
Everyone enjoyed reminiscing through the old photos showing projects completed by the club, Club Presidents and Directors since 1939.
Change over night saw the end of Margie Murray's presidential year and welcomed in Merv Clearwater for this new Rotary year.
An evening enjoyed by all who attended.
